Trauma Bond Recovery Therapy (Online, Ontario)

I know how unbearable it feels to love someone who hurts you, and to keep going back.

If you can’t stop thinking about them, if no contact feels like withdrawal, or if healthy love feels strangely boring, you may be healing from a trauma bond. I’m Tracey Nguyen, RN, MN, a nurse psychotherapist who helps people recover from trauma bonds, love addiction and codependency, online across Ontario. I’ve walked this path myself.

What trauma bond recovery looks like

My work follows a simple arc: trauma bond → sobering up → sovereignty.

  • Trauma bond: understanding why you’re attached, without shame.
  • Sobering up: getting through the withdrawal, the grief and the shame that surfaces when the bond is removed.
  • Sovereignty: coming home to yourself, your voice and your body, so you choose relationships from wholeness instead of hunger.

Signs you may be in a trauma bond

  • You defend them to others and to yourself
  • You feel addicted to their attention, even when it hurts
  • Calm relationships feel boring or unfamiliar
  • You lose your voice, your needs and your body’s signals around them
  • Your body carries it: anxiety, gut issues, exhaustion

How we work together

Sessions combine somatic (body-based) therapy, emotional processing and attachment work, with faith integrated when you want it. We go at the pace your nervous system can handle.
