I know how hard you’ve been trying.
You’ve rewritten your website. You’ve posted more. You’ve written the articles, taken the marketing course, maybe paid someone to “fix” your business. And some months it works. Other months, nothing you do seems to move anything, and you can’t figure out why.
If you’re an empath or a healer in business, I want to offer you a different way of seeing this. Because after more than ten years of running a healing practice, I’ve come to a conclusion that changed everything for me:
A healing business is an energy-based business. And the energy doesn’t lie.
Why empaths and healers are so open, in business and everywhere
Empaths and healers are open by nature. We feel everything. That sensitivity is part of our gift.
But for many of us, the openness has a second root: trauma. When you grew up without safe boundaries, you learned to stay open to everyone’s moods and needs, because that’s how you stayed safe. Then the healing path becomes learning, slowly, how to have boundaries you can feel.
That same openness walks into your business with you. You absorb your clients’ pain. You feel every quiet week as a verdict on your worth. You take a slow month personally, because to an open nervous system, everything is personal.
That isn’t a flaw. It’s a nervous system that learned to survive by staying open. And it can heal.
The logistics matter less than you think
Yes, there are things you have to do. You need a basic structure. You need to be findable when someone searches for the help you offer. I set those things up in my own practice, and I’m glad I did.
But here’s what surprised me. When I looked back over the years, the pattern didn’t line up the way the marketing advice said it would.
There were seasons when my income was much higher and my search visibility was honestly worse. And there were seasons when everything looked “right” on paper, and the business didn’t do nearly as well as I expected.
Over time I stopped believing the logistics were the main thing. They’re the container. They’re not the source.
A healing business runs on energy
What I found most impactful wasn’t a prettier website, more posts, or more money spent on marketers. It was healing my energetic relationship with my business.
Because the relationship you learned in your earliest relationships doesn’t stay at home. It gets projected onto everything, including the business you’re building.
At the very beginning, I was codependent with my business. I was people-pleasing it. I was scared of it. I was performing for it. I was constantly anxious, constantly feeling like I wasn’t enough, and I didn’t feel safe expressing myself. I lived in that zone for a long time.
Maybe you know that place too: checking your bookings like you’re checking someone’s mood. Feeling like your business is a parent you can never quite please.
The masculine and feminine wounds in your business
One of the most helpful lenses I’ve found is the inner masculine and feminine.
The masculine is structure. Consistency, boundaries, showing up, the container that holds the work. If your relationship with masculine energy is wounded, often through a father wound, structure can feel hard, pressured or unsafe. You may find yourself starting and stopping, unable to stay consistent, because part of you dismisses and rejects yourself every time you try to show up.
The feminine is self-expression. Softness, receiving, being seen, sharing your truth. If that energy is wounded, often through a mother wound, being visible in your business can feel frightening. You hide. You perform. You soften only when it feels completely safe, and in business it rarely does.
When both are wounded at once, of course business feels hard. You’re trying to build something while two parts of you are still trying to feel safe.
The good news is that it’s not about forcing yourself to be more disciplined or more visible. It’s about healing the relationship within yourself, so structure feels safe and self-expression feels safe, at the same time.
You can still earn while you heal
I want to say this clearly, because I know it matters to you: even when I was deeply traumatized, I was still able to run my business and bring in income.
I operated at the level I could operate at then. Being connected to my own healing and sharing my truth was enough to keep things moving. The only thing I’d change looking back is that I didn’t keep going consistently. And I couldn’t, because I had a hard time being consistently present with myself.
You don’t have to be fully healed to build something meaningful. But the more you heal, the more sustainable your growth becomes.
Coming back to your soul is the business strategy
Here’s what it comes down to: come back to your soul.
When you can stay grounded in your soul, keep coming back to it, take aligned action, and set up a simple, steady structure that lets you show up for yourself, the income starts flowing.
It becomes something like a contract: Yes, I’m coming back to my soul. I’m coming home to myself. God has me, and I’m doing the work I’m meant to do.
You’ll still meet the battles: the survival-based personality, the ego, the masculine and feminine wounds, old relational trauma projected onto everything. But staying grounded through them, with ongoing commitment and devotion to God, is where the provision comes from. And every layer you heal creates an energetic shift, so the leaps you take become steadier and more sustainable.
Business is a spiritual path
If you’re an empath or a healer and business seems like the only way forward for you, it’s not by accident. It’s God’s design for you, and the path for you.
Business is a spiritual path. Your income is between you and God. And your work is to stay committed and consistent in coming back to yourself.
It’s a different business model. But over time, it’s the one that makes sense.
Therapy for empaths and healers in Toronto and online

You don’t have to untangle this alone. In my Toronto practice, and online across Ontario, Canada and internationally, I help empaths, healers and sensitive people heal the trauma underneath their boundaries, their relationships and their work.
We work with somatic therapy to help your body feel safe with structure and visibility, psychodrama to practise new ways of relating, and gentle awareness of the people-pleasing and performing patterns that follow you into business. Many empaths I work with are also healing from narcissistic abuse or codependency and people-pleasing. If you’d like your faith to be part of healing, Christian counselling is welcome too.

Key takeaways
- Empaths and healers bring their openness, and their trauma, into business.
- Systems and visibility matter, but they’re the container, not the source of a healing business.
- How you relate to your business often mirrors what you learned in your earliest relationships: people-pleasing, performing, fear of not being enough.
- Wounded masculine energy makes structure and consistency hard; wounded feminine energy makes self-expression and visibility hard.
- You can earn while you heal, and healing makes growth more sustainable.
- Coming back to your soul, consistently, with a simple structure and devotion to God, is the real strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Why do empaths struggle in business?
Empaths are open by nature, and many also carry trauma that left them without clear boundaries. In business this shows up as absorbing clients’ emotions, taking slow periods personally, people-pleasing and difficulty staying consistent. Healing the boundary wound makes business feel safer and steadier.
What does it mean that a healing business is energy-based?
It means your inner state and your relationship with your business shape results as much as your marketing does. Two practitioners with the same website can have very different outcomes depending on whether they feel safe, consistent and grounded in their work.
How do the mother wound and father wound affect business?
A wounded relationship with masculine energy, often linked to a father wound, can make structure, consistency and boundaries feel unsafe. A wounded relationship with feminine energy, often linked to a mother wound, can make visibility and self-expression feel frightening. Both can be healed.
Can I grow my business while I’m still healing from trauma?
Yes. You can build income at the level you’re able to operate at now. As you heal, your consistency and presence improve, and growth tends to become more sustainable.
Is business really a spiritual path?
For many empaths and healers, yes. If building a business keeps showing up as your way forward, it can become a path of coming home to yourself, staying consistent and trusting God with your provision.
