I want to talk to the person who has been suffering more intensely than the circumstances of their life warrant.
You are doing the work. You are pursuing God. And instead of things getting easier, they have been getting harder. Old wounds have surfaced. The mind attacks that were quiet for years have returned.
For a specific subset of Christians, the intensifying suffering is not evidence you are off track. It is evidence you are on it. It is the pattern that shows up when God is deepening someone. The opposition is escalating exactly because what is at stake is significant.
Why Spiritual Battle Intensifies at Certain Seasons
Scripture is unambiguous. Paul wrote about wrestling against principalities. Jesus was tested most intensely before His public ministry began.
Because what is at stake matters. Enemies do not attack empty castles.
Because deep growth requires deep testing.
Because the enemy targets what he cannot own.
Signs the Suffering Is Battle Rather Than Misalignment
Your calling has become clearer, not murkier. Your relationship with God has deepened. The opposition tracks to steps of obedience. Old wounds are resurfacing. Trusted mentors sense the same thing.
How to Endure
One: name what is happening accurately.
Two: prioritize practices that keep you connected to God.
Three: get specific with intercession.
Four: address natural elements. Sleep, food, medical care.
Five: get therapy for old wounds surfacing.
Six: rest strategically.

Two ways to keep going
Healing the roots of narcissistic abuse, CPTSD and codependency isn’t done in your head. It’s done in the body, in the relationship, in the daily choice to come home to yourself.
